I have been dying to get on and blog about my most recent opportunity. For the month of February & March I was able to shoot the cover story for a local magazine here in Columbia called Reach Out Columbia! The February cover article was about an annual reach out motorcycle event and ride. Motorcycle groups and organizations came from all over to meet and ride together to the local Veteran’s Affairs Hospital to deliver gifts to the disabled veterans.
The weekend of the event I started losing my voice and the morning of the actual ride I woke up and couldn’t as much as make a peep! Losing my voice the day of the shoot/event created some obstacles especially with it already being so loud with the hogs:). This experience really made me step a little bit into my son Gabe’s world. It was so frustrating not being able to talk, or trying to but not being understood. It truly is a feeling of being trapped in your own body.My heart breaks for my son and all children who experience speech and neurological disorders. But I rejoice in the fact that my little guy despite his issues is the happiest 6 year old you’ve ever met! It turned out to be a wonderful shoot and a great time, and such a blessing to see unexpected people giving back to our veterans who have given so much!

Wow, is it February already? How in the world did that happen? I guess it feels like it is still the holiday season cause I only put away my Christmas tree about 2 weeks ago! LOL Yes, I am one of those, I like to hold on to the holidays for as long as I can.
With a new year brings lots of new things not only for Nichole Alexandra Photography but for me personally. I have decided this year will be my year! The year that I really embrace life and become the woman I know God has made me to be. I know you mom’s can understand where I am coming from. It’s like one day you wake up and realize where have I gone? I have been up to my elbows in diapers, the numerous doctor visits I have to take my son who has apraxia to every week, trying to figure out a way to rid our world of this thing called a peanut which could kill my son, and frankly all that really leaves no energy left for me.
In an attempt to be the new me, I have decided to start with two big things. The 1st one is I joined an intense Bible study at the local church we have been attending. It’ s called Breaking Free by Beth Moore and so far it is amazing I highly recommend it. The 2nd thing I have done is enter myself into a “Biggest Loser” weight loss competition at a really great gym in town. I am just so tickled about all these new changes!
So stay tuned as I update y’all on not only my photography, but on me & my new adventures:) On a fun note I have posted a few shots from my boys Christmas pictures, enjoy.

Here is my other quickie Thanksgiving session with my sweet friend Amy and her darling family. The last time we did a family portrait her poor hubby was off in Iraq! So I was so glad that we were able to get a few quick shots before we chowed down on some super delicious turkey! Enjoy:)

For Thanksgiving we went up to Fayetteville to visit my dear friend Amy who next year is being transferred to England:( We had made plans for me to do her baby brothers senior pictures later on, but since we were already doing a mini holiday shoot for her we decided to try and sneak in a quick session while the Turkey was finishing up:) I had not seen her brother in about 7 years so quite to my surprise he wasn’t quite so little anymore. Matt is a senior at Caldwell Academy, he is extremely musically talented & all around a really sweet young man! I really loved the ones with his hat on it reminds me of one of my favorite movies “Newsies“. I completely LOVE senior sessions, and think some of these shoots are my new favs!

Yesterday I had the privilege of shooting a holiday mini session of these two adorable little girls in Kingstree, SC. The two girls were so cute and so well behaved! They would just and listen to whatever I had them do:) If only I could get my two little rascals to do that! I love holiday pictures and it’s times like this that make me wish I had a little girl to dress up:)

When Megan first facebooked me about a couple session with her hubby I was so excited! Megan was one of those people that I knew would look fabulous in front of the camera, and whom I secretly hoped I would be able to photograph one day! As a photographer you sometimes meet or see complete strangers you would love to photograph, either for a certain look, or personality feature. There has been several times I would spot one of those people in public but from fear of looking like a crazy stalker I keep my mouth shut, even though I am dying inside with ideas of a cool modeling shoot:)
I had so much fun with Josh & Megan I told them during the shoot I felt like I was just following them around on a date! It was really hard for me to choose my favorites, a hot couple plus the most beautiful place ever, Charleston South Carolina makes for a photographer’s dream shoot:)
